Chelsea 0-1 Dortmund in the UCL last-16 first leg
Chelsea played decently well on the field at Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, however, Coach Potter’s team had to leave with a 0-1 defeat.
With the advantage of playing at home, Dortmund had a better start than Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. The home team controlled the ball more and also had more shots, although Dortmund’s shots were not really dangerous for Arrizabalaga’s goal.
In the 16th minute, Dortmund’s net shook when Silva jumped up to head the ball from the away team’s free kick. However, the referee not only did not recognize the goal but also gave Silva a yellow card for deliberately using his hand to play the ball.
In the 37th minute, Chelsea caused a stir in the home team’s goal with a quick counter-attack. Felix received the ball at the edge of the penalty area, he shot the ball past Dortmund’s goalkeeper but unfortunately, the ball hit the crossbar and bounced back.
After half-time, Chelsea had a better start and created a balanced game with the home team. In the first half of the second half, both teams attacked each other and the turning point of the match came in the 63rd minute.

Dortmund’s player ran strongly and pushed the ball past Fernandes and defeated Chelsea’s goalkeeper to score a goal. The goal showed the impressive speed and breakthrough ability of the winger for the home team.
After the goal, Chelsea rallied to attack and put great pressure on the home team. In the 78th minute, Koulibaly took a strong shot from inside the penalty area, goalkeeper Kobell blocked the ball but the ball still bounced out and rolled towards the goal. Fortunately for Dortmund, Can rush in and cleared the ball right on the goal line.
Despite their great effort, Chelsea could not find the equalizing goal, so Coach Potter’s team had to accept the bitter 0-1 defeat. The second leg of the round of 16 will take place at Stamford Bridge on March 8th.
