Chelsea sack Potter: Sooner or Later!

Chelsea sack Potter: Former player Chris Sutton believes that Chelsea coach Graham Potter could be sacked following the recent loss against Manchester City.

Graham Potter may be sacked by Chelsea

Chelsea sack Potter

Chelsea suffered their fourth defeat in the last six matches across all competitions when they played against Manchester City. Chelsea has only won 8 out of 16 games since Graham Potter replaced Thomas Tuchel in September. And former player Chris Sutton believes that Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly is considering firing Potter if the results do not improve quickly.

Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton told BBC Sport: “Is this the Chelsea that the fans want to see, where they are applauding them for their effort? Chelsea, over the past 20 years, have been a team that has won the big trophies.”

Sutton added: “The question is how much can Todd Boehly tolerate? If Chelsea go out to City in the FA Cup, I wonder if they will view this as a job too big for Graham Potter.

They have spent a fortune and you feel for Potter in terms of key players being out tonight but it isn’t good enough. I don’t think anyone expected Chelsea to win this game. They are not the team they once were. How long will Todd Boehly give Graham Potter? It’s so difficult to see where this is going.”

Regarding Potter, although he is facing difficulties, he has been given a 5-year contract after replacing Thomas Tuchel.

Owner Todd Boehly sees Potter as part of their long-term plan. The leaders also accept that rebuilding the club will take time and understanding with the injury crisis that has decimated Potter’s squad. In reality, the 47-year-old coach has only been in charge for 4 months, including the break between seasons due to the World Cup.

Potter is believed to still be in regular contact with the Chelsea owners and still receives their support to this day

Pochettino wants to manage Chelsea if Graham Potter is fired

Former Tottenham coach, Mauricio Pochettino is interested in the head coach position of Chelsea, in the event that The Blues decide to fire Graham Potter after a series of poor results.

Pochettino has been unemployed since leaving PSG at the end of last season. The Argentine coach made an impact during his time leading Tottenham, as he took the North London club to the Champions League final.

Potter is facing increasing pressure as he lost 6 out of 9 recent matches in all competitions.

The poor performance has seen Chelsea drop to 10th place in the Premier League table and eliminated from both domestic cups. According to The Sun, Pochettino is ready to become Chelsea’s new coach if the club decides to part ways with Potter.

Chelsea owners are willing to give Potter more time to improve the results, however, if the disappointing performances continue before Fulham, the club may re-evaluate.
