Chelsea has shown a willingness to terminate the contract with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he unexpectedly appeared at the El Clasico match between Barcelona and Real Madrid on March 20th.

Chelsea set to axe Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

The London club is angry and intends to end the contract with the striker after Aubameyang left England to support Barcelona in Spain. Not stopping there, Aubameyang even went into the dressing room to celebrate the victory with the Barca players and posted pictures publicly on social media. This has made Chelsea very unhappy.

This is not a favorable time for Aubameyang, who left Barcelona to return to the Premier League just 6 months after joining La Liga. In January 2022, Aubameyang was released from his contract with Arsenal due to disciplinary violations. He later joined Barca as a free agent. The Gabonese star impressed with 11 goals and 1 assist in 17 La Liga appearances in the second half of the season.

In the summer of 2022, Chelsea unexpectedly inquired about buying Aubameyang who was sold by Barca for 12 million euros. After manager Thomas Tuchel was sacked, new manager Graham Potter removed Aubameyang from his plans. Since then, the former Arsenal captain has only played 7 minutes in the Premier League. Aubameyang’s performance at Chelsea has not lived up to expectations.

Barca intends to bring Aubameyang back to the Nou Camp in the event that the 34-year-old player is released by Chelsea. The striker could be a quality backup option to replace Robert Lewandowski.
