Under the temporary guidance of coach Frank Lampard, Chelsea lost 0-1 to Wolves in the 30th round of the Premier League.

The only goal of the match was scored by Matheus Nunes in the 31st minute. The Portuguese player unleashed a decisive shot from the right side of the penalty area to beat Kepa and open the scoring. Nunes’ goal brought full three important points for Wolves.

Despite Chelsea’s statistical advantage, Wolves deservedly won the game. In fact, Wolves played well, creating clearer chances for about two-thirds of the first half, and then they scored the opening goal.

The stalemate cost Chelsea dearly. This was their 11th defeat of the season, with more losses than wins. With 39 points, Chelsea is now in 11th place. Chelsea is 17 points behind 4th-placed Man Utd and has played one more game than their opponents. With only 8 games left in the season, it seems almost impossible for Chelsea to secure a Top 4 finish.

With three more points, Wolves climbed to 31 points and jumped to the 12th position just behind Chelsea, but the gap between the two teams is currently 8 points. The “Wolves” are four points ahead of the relegation zone, so they will have some breathing space on the road to securing their place in the Premier League.
