Frank Lampard returns as Chelsea manager
Chelsea’s official website announces the appointment of Frank Lampard as the replacement for manager Graham Potter. The former legendary midfielder will temporarily lead The Blues until the end of the season.

After sacking Graham Potter, Chelsea turned to Frank Lampard to “put out the fire” for the club until the end of the season. Another Chelsea legend, Ashley Cole, will support him on the coaching bench.
“We are delighted to welcome Frank back to Stamford Bridge. Frank is a Premier League Hall of Famer and a legend at this club.
“As we continue our thorough and exhaustive process for a permanent head coach, we want to provide the club and our fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season.
“We want to give ourselves every chance of success and Frank has all of the characteristics and qualities we need to drive us to the finish line.
‘We have an important game against Wolves on Saturday and then we will turn our attention to our Champions League quarter-final in Madrid next week.
“We are all going to give Frank our full backing as we aim to get the best possible outcome from all our remaining games.”
Currently, Chelsea is only ranked 11th in the Premier League standings with 39 points, trailing the European Cup qualifying group by 11 points. With the current situation, qualifying for the Europa League could be seen as a significant success for Chelsea.
After leaving Chelsea in 2021, Lampard took a year off before taking a job at Everton. However, The Toffees’ performance was not good, leading to his dismissal in January of this year.
Lampard’s return is expected to help Chelsea regain some of the fans’ trust after a period of turmoil. Lampard understands the team’s philosophy and can develop young players well.
From now until the end of the season, Chelsea will search for a long-term manager. Among them, Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino have emerged as leading candidates for the club’s “hot seat”.
