Emerson Palmieri and Jorginho are two Italian players at Stamford Bridge. They all joined this team in 2018, but each has different advantages and disadvantages. Let’s see more.

Emerson Palmieri

• Full name: Emerson Palmieri dos Santos
• Nationality: Brazillian, Italian
• Age: 28
• Position: Left Back

He’s like a left-footed Zappacosta. Emerson joined the Blues in January 2018, appearing in just 33 Premier League games in more than four years without really having much influence on the first team.

Even so, the fullback from Brazil has won the Europa League and the Champions League. Emerson Palmieri also assisted Italy in winning the European Championship at Wembley. He is still booming in some way.

He recently moved to West Ham FC. According to rumors, West Ham will pay The Blue £13 million and an additional £2 million in future add-ons. They will also extend Emerson’s contract by 5 years, ending in 2027.

Jorginho

• Position: Defensive Midfielder

Jorginho Chelsea ended his first campaign at Stamford Bridge as a Europa League champion after completing his transfer from Napoli in July 2018.

This exceptionally skilled midfielder from Italy can control the pace of the game when in possession by moving quickly and passing the ball. He frequently plays as a deep-lying playmaker in the middle of the field to link defense and offense.

His placement without the ball furthers his ability in front of the defense. He is also a combative player capable of putting his foot in to reclaim possession, in addition to his technical skills.

While Jorginho has not always been among the well-liked Italian players for Chelsea, he has occasionally been outstanding at Stamford Bridge. Yet, there are rumors that he is hanging out by the exit door during the Frank Lampard era.

Davide Zappacosta

Under Conte’s management, Davide was one of ex Chelsea Italian players, who played at Stamford Bridge since 2017. Despite only spending two full campaigns at the club, Zappacosta helped the Blues win the FA Cup and the Europa League. 

Until the summer of 2021, when he permanently departed for Italy, he went on loan several times. Two seasons in West London, two seasons on loan, a £28 million move, an FA Cup, and a Europa League.

Did he justify the cost? Probably not. However, he did score an absurd goal in the Champions League matchup with Qarabag.

Marco Amelia

• Full name: Marco Amelia Ufficiale OMRI
• Nationality: Italian
• Age: 40
• Position: Goalkeeper

Amelia Marco is an Italian football player who once competed for the Blues as their goalkeeper. As a Roma youth product, he played and scored in the 2006–07 UEFA Cup while spending most of his professional club career with Livorno, where he made 181 performances across all competitions. 

Later, he played for many different clubs and also spent time with the English as a substitute goalkeeper in 2015.

Fabio Borini

• Full name: Fabio Borini

Fabio Borini is an Italian professional footballer currently a winger for Fatih Karagümrük in Turkey.

Borini has since had a decent career, although he had hardly any influence at the Blues, where he rose through the youth ranks.

Borini became one of the Chelsea football players in the summer of 2007. He was selected as the first-choice attacker for the substitutes during the 2008–09 campaign. With 10 goals from 11 games, he led the reserves in scoring.

Before a loan to Swansea and a complete departure to Parma, which didn’t even net the Blues a transfer fee, the forward only appeared in four league games.

Marco Ambrosio

Ex Italian Chelsea player Marco Ambrosio was born in Brescia on May 30, 1973. Claudio Ranieri, an Italian manager, bought him for Stamford Bridge in June 2003 on a free transfer.

Along with fellow newcomer Jurgen Macho, Ambrosio was hired to serve as Carlo Cudicini’s backup goalkeeper, which limited his playing time at Stamford Bridge.

Ambrosio was brought in as a third-choice goalkeeper in 2003 and eventually appeared in 12 games due to injuries to Carlo Cudicini and Jurgen Macho. These games included his faulty League Cup debut against Notts County and a somewhat more glitzy Champions League quarterfinal victory over Arsenal at Highbury.

Not bad, but ultimately unremarkable.
