Mauricio Pochettino Chelsea new head coach

The Telegraph, Athletic, and Times have all confirmed that Chelsea have reached an agreement to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager at Stamford Bridge. The deal will be announced by The Blues in the coming days. Coach Frank Lampard will continue in his temporary role until the end of the season before handing over the reins to Pochettino.

Previously, Mauricio Pochettino was on the shortlist to replace Potter after Chelsea sacked the English manager on April 2. After negotiations, The Blues reached a verbal agreement with the Argentine coach last month.

According to Athletic, Pochettino’s assistants Jesus Perez and Miguel D’Agostino, goalkeeper coach Toni Jimenez, and son Sebastiano Pochettino will also be joining him at Stamford Bridge. This means that 51-year-old Pochettino is set to return to coaching after nearly a year away from PSG. He and his assistants have been unemployed since being sacked by the Parisian club in July 2022.

The Argentine coach feels that Chelsea’s project is suitable for him. The London-based club is an ideal environment for this young coach to build a young, talented team and freely implement his ideas on how to play football.

According to reports from England, Pochettino also earns respect for his proficiency in English and his understanding of the Premier League, having previously led Tottenham and Southampton. Furthermore, Chairman Todd Boehly and his colleagues are impressed with Pochettino’s clear vision.

At Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino’s task is to revive and bring a struggling team to success after a disappointing 2022-2023 season. Despite large investments in the last two transfer windows, The Blues have been playing extremely poorly.

Their ongoing crisis has resulted in them being eliminated from all cup competitions they participated in. Worse still, they failed to qualify for the upcoming European Cup. Currently, the Stamford Bridge club is in 11th place in the Premier League table.

With his vast experience and success coaching Southampton, Tottenham, and PSG, coach Mauricio Pochettino is more than capable of meeting the expectations of Chairman Todd Boehly.
