Chelsea successfully signed Mykhaylo Mudryk
- From: Shakhtar Donetsk
- Transfer fee: €70.00M
- Contract: 8 years (to 2031)
After much speculation, the Mykhaylo Mudryk deal has finally come to fruition. The Chelsea FC home page announced that they own the “precious gem” from Ukraine.
According to reports, Chelsea had to pay a transfer fee of €100.00m (70 million euros and 30 million euros in bonuses) to acquire the young Ukrainian talent. Mudryk signed an 8.5-year contract with the Stamford Bridge team, until June 2030, a surprisingly long contract. Chelsea believes that this will be a factor that can help the team overcome a difficult period and step into a new era of success.
Mykhaylo Mudryk became the fifth Chelsea new signing in the January 2023 transfer window, following Benoît Badiashile, Andrey Santos, David Datro Fofana, and Joao Felix.
Since the contract was just completed, Mudryk was not able to play, but could only watch the Chelsea vs Crystal Palace match in round 20 of the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. The game ended with a score of 1-0 for The Blues. It is expected that the young Ukrainian star will make his Chelsea debut in the match against Liverpool on January 21, in the 21st round of the Premier League 2022/23.

Why Mykhaylo Mudryk denied Arsenal to come to Chelsea?
The successful signing of Mudryk by The Blues has made Arsenal the loser in the deal.
According to various sources, Arsenal has been pursuing the left-winger since last summer. In January 2023, they decided to buy this running player aggressively after winning the Premier League. In recent weeks, The Gunners have consistently increased the purchase price of Mudryk. The last time they came close to Shakhtar Donetsk’s requirements was when they offered a fee of 70 million euros plus 25 million euros in bonuses. These proposals from Arsenal were thought to convince the Ukrainian club, but Chelsea appeared and offered a higher price.
Specifically, Chelsea also accepts to pay 70 million euros immediately but pay an additional 30 million euros in fees in this deal. Furthermore, the conditions for Chelsea to pay fees to Shakhtar Donetsk are easier than Arsenal’s.
Most importantly, Chelsea pays 4 times the salary to fMykhaylo Mudryk compared to Arsenal’s proposal. The Stamford Bridge home team makes this young star turn his back on the Gunners with a salary of up to 200,000 pounds/week, along with an 8.5-year contract. This is the decisive factor that helps Chelsea enter the race late but only took a few days to secure the left-winger.
