Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea in round 25 of the Premier League

Chelsea fails to win for the sixth consecutive game, losing 0-2 to Tottenham in the 25th round of the English Premier League on February 26th.
In their last six games, Chelsea has only scored one goal and this time they could not escape defeat in the London derby. Midfielder Oliver Skipp opened the score with a long-range shot early in the second half, before Harry Kane tapped in a close-range goal to secure a 2-0 win for the home team. The future of coach Graham Potter at Chelsea will be even more uncertain after this defeat, as they are now only 10 points ahead of the relegation zone.
Chelsea held 59% of possession and had 10 shots, but had almost no dangerous chances. Tottenham didn’t play much better, but Skipp’s shining moment was enough for the home team to keep three points. This was Skipp’s first goal for Tottenham after 76 matches.
In the first half, except for midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s shot hitting the post, the special situations were all fouls. Especially the incident in the 45th minute when Hakim Ziyech tripped Richarlison to prevent a counter-attack. The players from both teams clashed, and defender Emerson Royal pushed Ziyech from behind. The midfielder retaliated by slapping Royal in the face, causing him to cover his face and fall down.
After both teams cooled down, assistant referee Darren Cann told head referee Stuart Attwell that there was a push in the face. However, both were unsure who had committed the act. Thanks to VAR advice, Attwell found out that it was Ziyech and issued a straight red card to the Chelsea midfielder. However, VAR told Attwell that the red card was not accurate, so he went out to the sideline to review the incident and changed it to a yellow card.
The game, which lacked chances, was unexpectedly opened just 18 seconds after halftime. From a situation where a Chelsea defender cleared the ball out of the penalty area, Skipp rushed forward, chested it down, and shot hard from the edge of the penalty area, putting the ball into the top corner. Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga touched the ball but couldn’t save the goal for the away team.
Outside the pitch, Coach Potter held his head sadly and could not help Chelsea turn the situation around. On the other hand, Tottenham added another goal in the 82nd minute thanks to the contribution of captain Kane. From Son Heung-min’s corner kick on the right, Eric Dier headed the ball toward the post, and Kane tapped it into the empty net.
Under the guidance of assistant coach Cristian Stellini, who is replacing head coach Antonio Conte during his illness, Tottenham has won two consecutive games in the English Premier League. They secured fourth place before going to play Wolverhampton in the 26th round.
